Introduction to GPS Car Trackers

Car Tracker GPSGPS Car tracker devices are becoming more and more popular in the UK. More and more people are deciding on attaching car tracker devices to their vehicles, and they do it for many different reasons. One of the most important reasons for getting a car tracker device is security, meaning that people attach these devices to their expensive cars in order to track them down if it happens that their car is stolen. Considering that there are more than 1000 cars stolen in the UK each day, it is no wonder that GPS car tracker devices have become so widely used.

Besides this, there are a lot more usages when it comes to car tracking devices. Whether you want to know where your children are when they take your car, or you want to successfully manage your company's fleet of vehicles, or you simply want to know different interesting information about the activity of your car such as the average driving speed or your driving habits, a car tracker will give you all of this information quickly and accurately.

Types of GPS Car Trackers

There are two types of GPS car trackers.  The first type is far more popular and it is known as the real-time car tracker or the live car tracker.  It is more popular because it is used to show you the exact location of your car in real-time, and because the location is very accurate.  Another way to find out your car’s exact location is by using a mobile phone.  A car tracker can send you an SMS with the address of your car’s location whenever you ask for it, and this is used in cases when you do not have access to a computer.

Some other interesting features of a real-time car tracker are the options of having your car travel history, different information on your car’s driving speed or even setting your car tracker to sound the alarm in certain cases.  For example, you can set your car tracker to sound the alarm when your car exceeds the speed limit or when it goes out of predetermined boundaries determined by yourself.

All of these options are also available with the second type of GPS car trackers called the data loggers, with the exception of real-time car tracking.  With data loggers, you cannot see your car in real time, but you can see all the other information after the car has finished a certain journey and it is back to the starting point of the journey.  Data loggers simply record all the information concerning your car’s travel history for you to view after removing the device from the car and downloading all the data to your computer.

Depending on the purpose of a GPS car tracker device, you can choose either of the two types.  The biggest difference between these two is their price, meaning that the data logger is much cheaper than the real-time tracker.
